INTRODUCTION OF OT
The full form of OT is an Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapy means children can perform their day to day activities such as bathing, cleaning , dressing yourself and eating ,cleaning your teeth or to teach fine motor skills ( Fine motor skills means that a child can use their hands ,fingers or toes while working or playing).
How to improve fine motor skills?
? using by writing skills: With the help of pencil or pen you can improve gripping skills to your child or patient.
? self eating : When your child eat you can hold you spoon or glass in his hand so that they can learn gripping or holding .
? With the help of hand exercise (joint compresson):Therapist or parents can fixe a time in that time they can do some hand exercise so that autistic child's learn gripping. Holding or control their finger movements.
? Sorting colours or shapes: By playing you can teach your son or daughter not only colours or shape but also how to grip that shape and how to put it
? Colouring with hands: You can make some paintings with the help of hands.
Common Goals of Occupational Therapy
1) To Overcome the hyper activity
2) To improve communication skills
3) To control sensory issues
4) Improve social skills
5) learning basic things to fulfill their needs
6) Self eating
7) Focus or concentration and so on.
1) To Overcome the hyper activity: Some toddlers (children) are very hyper and they can't control themselves.For instance a child throw all the toys except playing when we control them then they show aggression on others that time we can say that he or she is very hyper.With the help of Occupational Therapy we can deal with them.
2) To control sensory issues: Many children don't like to hug any other person accept their parents or some toddlers don't feel. Occupational Therapy can improve these sensory issues.
3) Improve social skills: Many autistic person don't like to interact themselves in public. Many autistic children play alone. Occupational therapist do some activities in which distinct person play with each other so that we can improve social skills.
4) Focus or concentration: Normally autistic children doesn't concentrate or Focus on their work sometimes they are lost or may be in an imagination. Therefore, in OT therapy we can teach them how to focus on their work.
5) Self eating: Some autistic children don't know how to eat by yourself or how to grip a spoon in hand. So, in that condition... how they can hold or grip.
